**Note: The GED is awarded on the basis of four tests, with the student required to reach a score of 145 on each of them. That means that the total passing score is 580. Students who reach a score of 165 on any of the four subjects are considered college-ready in that subject and not in need of taking remedial courses. The total of 620 could represent, for example, two 145 scores and two 165s.
