The Student Assistant performs a variety of administrative and technology work for the WNMU Foundation Office. 

The Student Assistant performs a variety of administrative and technology work for the WNMU Foundation Office including, but not limited to:

  • Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Greet visitors, handle their inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
  • Assist with assembling and mailing invitations, promotional material, and other information.
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other materials.
  • Conduct searches to find needed information, using such sources as the Internet and office files.
  • Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems.
  • Assist Scholarship Coordinator and/or Foundation staff in gathering comprehensive contact information for scholarship database.
  • Copying, filing, sorting and compiling hard copy packets of information.
  • Running errands as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and apply the mission of the Foundation, contributing towards the overall goals of Advancement.
  • Western New Mexico University student.
  • Academically excel to maintain State or Federally funded student employment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and multi-task several projects at once.
  • Experience in word processing and spreadsheet maintenance preferred.
  • Task-oriented- strive to complete activities/projects in a timely manner on or before the scheduled deadline.
  • Be able to abide by all confidentiality standards and handle confidential information.
  • Creative, problem solver, and solution-oriented.

Must be dependable.
