Tutors serve as peer facilitators to assist students in understanding coursework in small groups or individually. Tutors attend class sessions to ensure constant and consistent knowledge of the lecture and classroom expectations. The tutor’s role in the classroom is to model effective classroom behavior and then transfer their knowledge to the study session. Tutors combine specific study skills with key course content, integrating what to learn and how to learn during their study sessions. Tutors will be certified under the Level 1 CRLA program.
* Attend trainings and monthly in service requirements
* Attend designated lectures
* Be a visible presence to the students
* Act as a model student during lectures-listen and take notes
* Plan at least 3 study sessions each week.
* Communicate with students to encourage participation
* Encourage students to attend study sessions, but not as a substitute for attending class
* Meet with a faculty on a regular basis
* Other duties as assigned.
If applying as a Supplemental Instruction Student Worker, the hourly rate is $9.00at 15 hours/week and the job description is as follows:
Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 Passed related course with a B or better Faculty recommendation
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
